Dr. Stephen Coggeshall, chief technology officer, at ID Analytics said. “Most of these cases of duplication are likely due to simple data entry errors as opposed to deliberate falsification. Nevertheless, organizations expose themselves and their customers to risk if they solely rely on the SSN to verify an individual.”

ID Analytics analyzed 290 million Social Security numbers, and found that 1 in 7 are associated with more than one name. Anywhere from 3-4 million names are directly used to commit fraud.

MSNBC reported the same study showed 140,000 SSNs are connected to 5 or more people and 27,000 SSNs are connected to 10 or more people.

Some of these secondary SSNs are the result of typos where an administrator may incorrectly enter a digit and then that secondary SSN is now connected to a person’s credit going forward.

In other cases it is deliberate fraud. When the same person is shown using multiple Social Security numbers on purpose then a flag is raised.

Consumers often find out their SSN is compromised as a result of being denied credit or when bill collectors call them for non payment.

Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal and Hrithik Roshan are not leaving anything to chance to catch the India-Pakistan World Cup semifinal either at home, at a get together or in a restaurant. Those who are busy shooting plan to catch the action in their vanity vans.

Some actors like Shah Rukh Khan have planned get-togethers, while a host of actors like Aamir Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Rahul Bose and Preity Zinta, among others, are in Mohali to watch the clash live, said a source.

Shah Rukh has invited Karan Johar, Arjun Rampal, Hrithik Roshan and Chunkey Pandey at his Bandra house Mannat, and actress Priyanka Chopra might join them after wrapping up her shooting for the "Agneepath" remake.

Popular singer Shaan will host his friends Babul Supriyo and music composer Pritam Chakraborty at his place to cheer for India.

The frenzy is such that actors like Riteish Deshmukh and Arshad Warsi, who are currently in Macau for the shooting of "Double Dhamaal", have planned to watch the showdown at an eating joint.

"In Macau for the shoot of Double Dhamaal -IND-PAK match-the enitre unit is going to raid an Indian restaurant to watch the match-GD Luck INDIA," Riteish posted on Twitter.

Meanwhile, actors Sophie Choudry and Genelia D'Souza are cribbing about being stuck in shooting during the much-awaited semifinal.

"All my friends are either at the match or watching it in a big gang...But I'm stuck shooting!! Gonna sneak into my van whnever I can! Go Indiaia!" tweeted Sophie.

Media agencies say broadcaster ESPN Star is demanding between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh per 10 seconds. It's a huge jump from the Rs 3.5 lakh for 10 seconds it charged at the league level. While some doubt whether ESPN Star will get what it wants, others are certain advertisers will pay up.
"India-England match was about 12 to 13 ...and it's India-Pakistan, it's semifinal, it's knock out...so between 15 and 20, if it is a good contest, is a safe bet," said MEC India MD T Gangadhar about the Television Rating Points.

So far, the tournament has delivered. The six India league matches did average ratings of 9.51, while non-India matches averaged close to 1.5 TRPs.

Broadcast sponsor Vodafone says response to live match coverage on mobiles has been 5 times higher than what the IPL garnered last year. Ground sponsor LG has received 50,000 applications for its cheer-leading squad. But will these guys buy more air-time?

"As an advertising platform the world cup rating for me would be, 5 or 5 and a half on 10, but as a sponsorship platform it is far more valuable to us," said LG India CMO LK Gupta.

"We could promote things differently if India gets into the finals and ride on the sentiment that Indians will have. After all, more than 50 million Indians were watching the India-England match. I am sure that the number will be higher when we go along. Unlikely though that we will buy more air time," said Vodafone Brand Communication VP Anuradha Agarwal.

The 42 league matches reached over 175 million households in the country, which is 48 per cent more than the previous world cup, and 30 per cent higher than IPL-3.

Media planners say available inventory for the finals will be sold only after the two finalists are penciled in. And if India is one of them, spot rates will go through the roof.

India have set a semi final date with Pakistan on March 30 at Mohali. India ousted defending champions Australia after beating them by 5 wickets in the 2nd quarter-final at Ahmedabad.

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Wednesday said that his team were unnerved by the prospect of playing India, whom they have never beaten in the World Cup, in the semi final in Mohali.

"If we happen to clash with India, we won't lack crowd support because (Pakistani) people will come from across the border to watch the match in Mohali," Afridi told MiD DAY.

Pakistan booked their semi-final berth by crushing the West Indies by 10-wickets in the first quarter final on Wednesday.

India have a 4-0 head-to-head record against Pakistan in World Cup matches but Shahid Afridi was confident of turning the tables. "India maybe the world's best team but we are capable of beating them," he said.

"This (Pakistani) side has a lot of focus. Today we achieved our first objective of winning the quarter final. The second objective is (winning) the semi-final. We are taking one step at a time."

Afridi took heart from the fact that the PCA stadium in Mohali had been a happy hunting ground for Pakistan. "Mohali has been good for us. In 2007-08, we won chasing a 300-plus target. In 2005, Kamran Akmal and Abdur Razzaq helped us draw a Test which we could have lost," he said.

Afridi contributed to the huge win over the West Indies, bagging fours wickets for 30 runs off 9.3 overs to consolidate his position as the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 21 wickets. The West Indies were bundled out for 112, their third lowest World Cup total, with more than six overs remaining. Off spinner Mohammad Hafeez, who shared the new ball with Umar Gul, picked two wickets in four balls and then made made 61 off 64 balls to lead the successful chase.

India vs Pakistan World Cup semi-final: Fans scramble for tickets

Tickets for the much-anticipated India- Pakistan World Cup semifinal have been sold out days ago but the mad scramble for them continues with desperate fans flocking the PCA stadium here even today.

Scores of fans could be seen moving around the stadium hoping desperately to grab a ticket from somewhere.

On Tuesday itself, the PCA had announced that 14,000 tickets at its disposal had been sold to the public through the designated bank and its counters and asked the fans not to approach them now.

However, fans are not prepared to give up. "I have been coming here since Monday, but have not been able to get any ticket," said Vikas Sharma, a young executive with a private company.

Allegations that black marketers are making a killing have been flying thick and fast.

"The tickets are available, but if you pay Rs 3,000 for a Rs 250 ticket and shell out Rs 10,000 for a Rs 1,000 ticket. Those selling in black have managed to purchase tickets in bulk," alleged Ram Kumar, a bank officer in Chandigarh.

"The semi-final match is going to be mother of all battles, in a way even bigger than the finals. Genuine fans should not be deprived of watching the match and police should take tough action against those selling in black," he said.

A good number of fans are also expected to come here from across the border to support Pakistan.

Representatives of some corporates willing to pay astronomical amounts could be seen making a beeline outside the PCA in their desperate bid to get tickets of the prized boxes.

Meanwhile, with top dignitaries from India and Pakistan expected to be there to watch the match, top police brass reviewed the security arrangements that will be put in place.

Nearly 2,000 cops are expected to be deployed in and around the PCA stadium as part of security measures, police sources said.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sent an invite to his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari to watch the match.

"We are also expecting many other top dignitaries from the two countries and therefore maximum security will be in place for the match," a Punjab police official said.

Hotel Taj in Chandigarh, about 12km from here, where the two teams are staying has been turned into a fortress with 1,000 cops deployed for security.

Several prominent personalities, including Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will watch the historical encounter at PCA ground in Mohali.

Indian government has also decided to issue 5000 visas for Pakistani spectators.

India has cent percent winning record against Pakistan in the World Cup. Both the neighbouring countries have faced each others four occasions in the past and India has won all the time.

Mohali match ticket prices soar high

It's more than three days now since tickets were sold out in Chandigarh and Mohali, but fans are still waiting in a hopeless quest for tickets at the Mohali stadium.
"I have come from Andhra to watch this match, but there is no ticket here. I have been waiting here since morning, but there is nothing available yet," said a cricket fan from Andhra Pradesh.
All in all, 16,000 tickets were released to the public - which were all sold out within hours. They were all snapped up so quickly that fans believe tickets were grabbed by black marketers.

Tickets in black have gone up to as high as Rs 1 lakh for a Rs 15,000 ticket while a Rs 10,000 ticket is now being sold at Rs 50,000. Tickets worth Rs 250 are fetching between Rs 15000 to Rs 20,000 each. Even lawmakers - used to getting VIP treatment, have sidelined.

There are no more tickets at sale at the Mohali stadium, but black marketing of tickets is ramphant. The police has arrested a person trying to black market the tickets. Nonetheless, the supply is so limited and demand is so high that there is no chance of anybody getting the tickets through the ticket counters here.

ICC Cricket World Cup: TV advertisement rates for India vs Pak semifinal up by 350%

Team India lives another day to play the dream semifinal against Pakistan and that means advertisers, who banked on the 50- over World Cup, feel they have got a bigger bang for their buck than expected.

It's not only the advertisers, the ICC World Cup is turning out to be a jackpot for the broadcaster ESPN Star Sports (ESS) as well. Media planners told TOI that ESS has hiked its advertising rates-the amount a brand pays to be seen on air-to as much as Rs 17-18 lakh for a ten second spot for the India-Pakistan semifinal scheduled to be played in Mohali on March 30. This is a huge jump from Rs 3.5- 4 lakh for a ten second spot the broadcaster charged before the start of the tournament.

ESS got on board brands like Britannia and Nike, which paid about Rs 8-9 lakh for a ten second spot during Thursday's quarterfinal encounter between India-Australia. "There are very few spots left. We are definitely looking at substantially higher rates as compared to what we were selling before the tournament started," said Sanjay Kailash, executive VP-ad sales & new media, ESPN Software India. Sports broadcasters usually keep about 10% unsold inventory to bag so that they can charm a premium for it at the last leg of the tournament.

"The World Cup has delivered impressive ratings and has proved to be an instant reach builder for all our clients. We are exploring some buys for the semifinal as well considering the kind of huge platform it will offer to advertisers," said Madison Media CEO Basab Datta Chowdhury. Most media planners said they will either look to buy more inventory for existing clients or get new advertisers on board, especially brands which are planning to launch new campaigns. Media agency Maxus, which bought spots for its clients Vodafone, Nokia, Hero Honda, Fiat, besides others, said the increased rates make sense. "If you paid Rs 3 lakh for a rating of 2 or 3, its OK to pay in the range of Rs 15 lakh for a 20 rating for an India-Pak match," said Ajit Varghese, MD, Maxus India.

This is the first time India and Pakistan will meet with each other in the semi final of the Cricket World Cup since 1975. Both Indian and Pakistani cricket-mad fans are really excited for this encounter.

An Indian fan in Delhi said, "India vs Pakistan semi final match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is going to be the mother of all cricket matches so far. However, I'm supporting India, but wish that the match is entertaining and thrilling. Both India and Pakistan deserve to win the Cricket World Cup."

One more Indian fan in Mumbai said, "I don't know about the teams but we as followers of the game are sure as hell nervous. There's also excitement. Excitement and pressure will go hand in hand when Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Indians clash with Shahid Afridi's Pakistanis in Wednesday's high-voltage World Cup semifinal in Mohali.

There has never been a dull moment ever since the two countries played their first World Cup match in 1992 at Sydney.

Pakistan, playing impressive cricket in the ongoing tournament, will also be determined to overcome a jinx after having lost all of their four World Cup matches against their arch-rivals.

All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, man of the match in Pakistan's quarterfinal win over the West Indies in Dhaka on Wednesday, has said he is keenly looking forward to playing in Mohali.

"It will be really exciting to play India. The atmosphere will be really electrifying. Playing in front of an Indian crowd will be interesting," Hafeez recently told an Indian newspaper.

"I hope India and Pakistan play more matches in future."

It will be the third one-dayer between India and Pakistan in nearly three years as the cricketing ties between the two snapped following the 2008 attacks on India's financial hub Mumbai.

The World Cup matches between India and Pakistan have provided plenty of thrills.

Top Pakistani batsman Javed Miandad was a photographers' delight in 1992 when he jumped up and down, apparently in imitation of Indian wicket-keeper Kiran More who had been repeatedly appealing.

The 43-run defeat at Sydney did not affect Pakistan's chances as they rallied from the brink to win the World Cup under Imran Khan's inspirational leadership.

But the next defeat in the 1996 World Cup did.

Pakistan's 39-run defeat came in the quarterfinal at Bangalore where many believed they had lost half the battle before the first ball had been bowled.

Their captain and quality paceman, Wasim Akram, withdrew from the game due to an injury - a decision the fans found hard to swallow. He was later widely criticised for pulling out of a big match.

Pakistan lost the remaining half of the battle when well-set opener Aamer Sohail lost his cool and wicket after being involved in a verbal duel with Indian seamer Venkatesh Prasad.

Chasing a 288-run target, Pakistan were 113/1 before Sohail was bowled for 55 to become one of Prasad's three victims. It was all over when veteran Miandad was run out for 38 in what turned to be his last World Cup appearance.

The third World Cup clash came at Old Trafford in England in 1999. It was again Prasad who troubled Pakistan, claiming five wickets to help India win by 47 runs in a Super Sixes fixture.

The 2003 World Cup match at Centurion in South Africa was dubbed as a duel between superstars Sachin Tendulkar of India and Pakistani paceman Shoaib Akhtar.

Tendulkar won the fascinating battle, smashing a robust 98 before becoming the paceman's lone victim of the innings. Akhtar conceded 72 in 10 overs in his team's six-wicket defeat.

Tendulkar is now just one ton short of completing 100 international centuries while Akhtar is retiring after the World Cup.

So, come Wednesday, some will get their shoots preponed while most will watch the match at home or between extended breaks at work. A few will even watch the match live.

Deepika Padukone: (Watching it in London) "I will be in London shooting for Desi Boyz. As it is behind India in time, I will get ready early and catch the match before my afternoon shoot. I wish I was in Mohali, catching the action live."

Kareena Kapoor: (Hoping for things to wrap up fast) "I will be busy shooting for Reema Kagti's film with Aamir on that day unless things wrap up fast. Knowing Aamir's around, it probably will!"

Akshay Kumar: Sajid Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and a few of my close friends are coming over to watch the semis between India and Pakistan on the plasma TV in my house. I love cricket. I am not cheering any particular player but I'm rooting for India. Team India has to win!

Aamir Khan: (Prepones shoot. Now, from 10 am to 2 pm) The actor plans to watch the match with his family at home. He made director Reema Kagti, whose film he is currently starring in, change the timing of the Wednesday schedule, making it from 10 am to 2 pm, so that the cast and crew could catch the action.

Sunil Shetty: (Will be in Mohali) "I am a huge cricket lover. Gautam Singhania and I will head to Mohali for the semis between India and Pakistan. I am rooting for Team India and not for any player in particular."

Sanjay Dutt: (Can't miss it even though he's in HK) "Though I love cricket and have watched most of the World Cup matches, sadly for the semis between India and Pakistan I am not there. What a match it will be! I am in Hong Kong shooting for Dhamaal 2. I will watch it somewhere or maybe on the Net. Though I am rooting for Team India, I love Sachin and Sehwag."

Ajay Devgn: (Will watch during the shoot) "I will be shooting for Rohit Shetty's Singham in Goa and will watch the match between breaks. Rohit has promised to wind up the shoot early that day so we can all get to watch at least half the match."

Anil Kapoor: (Wants Sachin to crack a ton) "Yes, I do plan to watch the cricket semis between India and Pakistan as I love cricket. As of now, I'm a bit uncertain of my plans as I have some guests from Los Angeles flying down for a meeting and at night I'm having a small dinner party. I love watching Sachin Tendulkar's game and it would be fantastic if he got his 100th century during this match! I'm happy Yuvraj has struck form and playing brilliantly now. It's also a great opportunity for India and Pakistan to strengthen their ties in this match and make it a friendship match though on-the-field aggression and competition will be there."

Bipasha Basu: (Catching it at home) "I have still not decided where I will watch the match. Maybe, socially or at home with close friends. But am flying back from Kolkata on that day! Cheering for the entire team and hope they make us proud!"

Sonam Kapoor (Loves to watch Sachin) "I don't know yet whether I will be watching the semis or not. I enjoy the game of cricket, especially when India's playing. I love watching Sachin Tendulkar play!"

Imran Khan: (Wants a TV on the sets) "I'm going to be shooting in Madh Island the entire day. I'm just hoping our director understands our excitement and puts a TV on the sets."

India vs Pakistan: an epic boiling over

The time is ripe, the stage is set, the armageddons are ready! One desperate for a big win, the other trying to justify its status! On the way, old wounds may split open or fresh ones may be inflicted: that's the nature of an Indo-Pak encounter, and this one's no different.

While expectations soar on both sides of the border, tempers are sure to reach a crescendo and emotions set to drool over when the two teams line up for their national anthems before an epic ICC Cricket World Cup semifinal.
The journey for the two estranged neighbours though hasn't been without a few bumps before and during the World Cup.

Bloodshed in the Pakistan heartland during Sri Lanka's tour there had devastating consequences. The ICC snatched the World Cup holding rights from Pakistan as a penalty and cricket deprivation in terror-infested Pakistan deepened.

Pakistan bit the bullet by dropping the likes of Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Malik coming into the mega event after surfing over tsunamic tides of match-fixing in England.

Indecisiveness over naming the captain made the PCB look inept at handling team affairs. Only a turnaround in New Zealand helped restore sanity and Shahid Afridi was handed over the reins.

Unexpectedly, Pakistan took the blows on its chin, only to turn back and land a few in the World Cup with wins over Sri Lanka and Australia. But the campaign didn't go by without the customary Pakistani unpredictability. They survived 'Canadian' close shaves and 'Kiwi' disasters on their way to road-blocking the Caribbean caravan in the quarterfinals. And now, they have an Indian mountain to climb in the semifinals.

India's build-up, though more settled, had its fair share of problems, largely selection quandaries, surrounding around the inclusion of Piyush Chawla. And when the fans had somehow digested the leg-spinner's inclusion, a setback followed when Praveen Kumar was 'elbowed' out of the World Cup, giving S Sreesanth a new lease of life.

The pre-tournament favourites, like Pakistan, had a few scary incidents during their swim into the semifinals. They survived a choking gulp at the English channel, an unexpected high tide while crossing Ireland and a pirate attack by South Africa before giving a nervous send-off to the defending champions Australia in the quarterfinal.

At the end of 46 matches and 37 days of competition, the tussle is now down to four teams, two semifinals and at the end of it, two finalists.

But before going that far, the most awaited stopover is the Mohali semifinal, where India is an expected visitor and Pakistan a popular ICC guest who refuses to leave the World Cup party.

India vs Pak: Watchful minister tells team 'no match-fixing'

Islamabad Ahead of the prestigious match between India and Pakistan on Wednesday, Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned his team not to indulge in any match-fixing.

Pakistan cricket has been dogged by match-fixing allegations from time to time, the latest surfacing last August during their tour of England. The tabloid sting which exposed cricketers involved in alleged match-fixing ultimately wiped off Pakistan's formidable pace attack – Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Aamir – and its former captain Salman Butt.

Malik also said he was keeping a “close watch” on the activities of the Pakistani cricket team.

After the sting last August, Pakistan's players were questioned by the Scotland Yard and a bookie was arrested in London.

The 'News of the World' tabloid alleged Pakistani bookie Mazhar Majeed had paid bribes to the players to bowl no-balls in the series and the Lord's Test.

Shah Rukh Khan has declared a screening of the India vs. Pakistan match at his house, Mannat, on 30th March, and Aamir Khan has also called friends over for a party with the match on. While SRK is grouping up with his filmy friends, namely Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, for the cricket world cup match, Aamir will be sticking to close family and friends, including newly-wed nephew Imran Khan. In fact, workaholic Aamir has even taken the day off from shooting for Reema Kagti’s Zakhmi, and will also be playing truant from the shoot for the finals on 2nd April.

Terror threat adds to hype of India vs Pakistan semi-final match

The India-Pakistan World Cup semi-final clash scheduled on Wednesday has come under threat of terrorist attack, necessitating the imposition of seven-layer security cover at the Mohali cricket stadium.

Intelligence sources said terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba, Indian Mujahideen and HUJI could strike during the match.

There are also concerns about possible low intensity attacks elsewhere. Intelligence agencies have intercepted telephone conversations between terrorists, indicating that 30 small groups of two-three terrorists have been formed by these outfits.

Interrogation of Lashkar men at Jammu also point to a terror blueprint. In view of these multiple leads, India is taking no chances.

The area over the Mohali Stadium will become a no-fly zone during the match.

All borders will be sealed and Pakistan fans will be allowed entry only via the Wagah border. All forward air bases are also on high alert and the Indian Air Force will keep an eye on things.

There's a proposal to have an eye in the sky with an unmanned aerial vehicle. Anti-aircraft guns are being used for the first time. NSG commandos and 48,000 security personnel have already been deployed in the area.
