Online Cricket Betting Bookies Still Match Fixing?

Fans are wondering whether large cricket online betting bookies have affected their beloved game, and are wary of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 cricket odds, believing the matches to be fixed.

Raheel Akhtar believes that the first matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 were breached by cricket online betting bookies, with no regard to the fans.

“Several matches in the group phase were fixed,” Raheel told ‘The News’ on Tuesday.

“Most of the encounters nowadays are preset and if they aren’t, then the bookies get active, when the match enters a critical position.”

Meanwhile, shopkeeper Zubair, had an opinion that the people who are on top of the games may be involved in cricket online betting also.

“There is a strong possibility of the involvement of the most prestigious cricket body’s officials involvement as well,” he expressed.

“Now, the menace of fixing is not confined to only players, there is a common belief among everyone that now the cricket boards and state heads are also involved in it.”

Most fans have turned sour to cricket online betting after the News of The World exposed the Pakistan match fixing scandal. Cricket odds are still available, but the average person is unlikely to follow up with a bet.

“A common person can understand that World Cup is a festive period for bookies but ICC has done nothing,” said Ziauddin, a cricket lover.

“The cricket’s governing has not been able to catch a single bookie, which is ridiculous.”

A former player, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he knew how the match fixing was being perpetrated by cricket online betting bookies, yet feels it is useless to make a deal out of it due to the officials blind eye.

“Fixing of billions of rupees have been going on but it’s useless to come out and blow the whistle because those who are responsible to run the affairs properly are not interested in making the game clean of this abuse,” he told on the condition of anonymity.

“The way Indian team got all out on 296 against South Africa after being 267-1 was seriously questionable but yet no one showed suspicion over it.

“If Pakistan would have gone down in such a manner, I can bet every one would have questioned their credibility. These are double standards of the cricket’s governing body that they do not treat all equally.”
