The rain is set to play spoil sport today in Zimbabwe against Pakistan cricket match that is underway. Zimbabwe who have lost five wickets and are playing at 96 when the match was stopped due to rain mat be able to give a big fight to Shahid Afridi’s team if the D/W method comes into the use.
The run rate that is still below 3.5 runs per over may well be doubled for the Pakistani team and they may be asked to score in just over a dozen overs or so.
And by the way Pakistani batsmen, especially their openers and top order are not adept at scoring at furious pace. So there may be some sort of trouble for them as their batting has been less than predictable.
But thank God rains have stopped and the covers have been removed. The sun is shining brightly here and game should resume within half an hour and so.
But the number of overs may be reduced to 46 or forty five and if Pakistani team is not able to bowl out the Kenyan side cheaply, they may be under immense pressure today.
Earlier Bangladesh cricket team did tremendously well with both bat and ball against Netherlands when they bowled out the minnows for just 160 runs and then reached the target very comfortably.
A report on Cricinfor says, “A comfortable win for Bangladesh, and they're now on six points. The race for the quarter-finals has intensified in Group B. England face West Indies on the 17th, while Bangladesh face a tough test against South Africa in their next match. Ireland take on South Africa tomorrow, and there's India waiting to take on West Indies. If West Indies beat England in Chennai, Bangladesh are through to the next stage.”
