Cricket lovers eagerly awaiting World cup 2011!

FLAT TRACKS, turning pitches, short boundaries are once again waiting the inauguration of another  battle – the battle of ICC cricket world cup 2011which will commence from February 19.

Cricket fever is growing higher with many advertising campaigns with the tag line “The cup that counts” which features representatives from each country walking on the ropes to claim their cup which counts. Numerous advertisements by different sponsors like Pepsi, Castrol leading players from Indian cricket team are ready to be seen on TV with a total ad revenue estimated at Rs. 1500 crores including IPL 4 which is 6 days after world cup.

When it comes to cricket which is taken as a religion in India, Bollywood is not far behind to make its contribution. Music maestros Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy have composed ICC world cup official song titled “De Ghuma Ke”.

This will be the 10th world cup and will be hosted by three south Asian countries viz India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Although Pakistan was to be the fourth host nation, the attack on Sri Lankan team forced ICC to drop Pakistan from its roster.

Out of 49 matches, 29 will be played in India including one quarter-final, one semi-final and the final match; twelve matches will be played in Sri Lanka including one quarter-final, one semi-final and 8 matches are to be played in Bangladesh. The first match will be Kenya vs West Indies in Colombo.

With amazing team combination and balanced approach Sri Lanka, one of the co-hosts has an edge over other teams. The young team of Pakistan can also deliver many surprises. The new faces can bring in fresh air of tough competition.

India was scheduled to play against England at Eden gardens in Calcutta on February 27 in what was being dubbed as one of most challenging encounters of the tournament. However, the hopes of the Bengal fans were jolted, when poor preparations by the Cricket Association of Bengal robbed the fans of this match.
