ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: Recommended Viewing Schedule

The 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa was a 32 team affair that concluded in 31 days. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is a 14-team event and lasts a jinormous 43 days. For the cricket mad fan this could well be a heavenly experience. You visit the barber's shop and there is cricket on the tele, you come home from work and there is always a match to watch, in fact, on most days you don't even have to choose, ensuring every team gets exactly the same amount of airtime. The players themselves though are not quite as kicked about the schedule, and the fans in India are having a real haw-and-hum about the prospect of spending the first Sunday of the World Cup watching New Zealand and Kenya doing battle!

Hence, we decided to not just dump the entire schedule on you, but to do your donkey work and select the matches worth a watch. For the fans of a particular country, the formula is simple. You can ignore the schedule below, and just head over to our team previews and look up the exact schedule for your favourite team. For those of you want to be slightly more involved in the World Cup and enjoy some good cricket, we have broken down the schedule into two parts - weekday viewing and weekend fun. The weekend schedule includes Friday day-night matches (FDNM), assuming some of you will be ready to leave work a tad early to catch a good game. Sadly, though none of the FDNM made our hot picks!

Our World Cup Group Stage picks are coloured in blue - those are the games you definitely want to watch. We have thrown in Game 1 in that list for good measure (and opening ceremony fun & games), don't judge our selection by our first page!
