Indian team has shown once again that its top order isn’t really prepared for the big matches ahead. Thankfully it is a practice match and it may not be of any significance when seen in the context of the World Cup. Nonetheless it shows that the team’s batting remains a cause of concern for the team management.
So far with the exception of Sehwag no other batsman has been able to play a big inning. Sehwag who, before the beginning of the match was talking about the importance of playing a long inning, lost his concentration midway as he was tempted to playing big shots.
But he could hammer merely a single six that though took him past 50 run mark, forced him to play another irresponsible shot and give up his wicket very cheaply.
The only other player who could score some runs was Virat Kohlo, but he too could score no more than 2 runs.
Gambhir scored 6 runs, while Yuvraj Singh could score just a single, Dhoni 11, Raina 12 and Harbhajan just 4 runs. Right now Yusuf Pathan and Piyush Chawla are at the crease and are playing at 9 and 0 runs respectively.
India’s score at the end of29.4 overs was just 138 runs and they have lost seven precious wickets
