India 8-13 to win World Cup semi with Pakistan

ENGLAND’S amazing World Cup campaign took another twist on Thursday when it was announced that Mike Yardy had withdrawn from the Three Lions squad with depression. Yorkshire leg-spinning all-rounder Adil Rashid has been allowed to join Andrew Strauss's men before they take on Sri Lanka in a quarter-final in Colombo.

Andrew Strauss’s are 13-8 to turn over Kumar Sangakkara's charges and qualify for the semi-finals like co-hosts India, who dumped out holders Australia in Ahmedabad, when winning by five wickets.

MS Dhoni's men are now 7-4 tournament favourites and 8-13 to beat Pakistan in the first semi-final in Mohali on Wednesday.

Gold and Greens skipper Ricky Ponting, a runner-up in 1996 and three-time winner since, top-scored with 104 at 4-1 in a total of 260-6.

But Yuvraj Singh, who headed the home lists at 11-2 with 57 not out, and Suresh Raina held steady for India with a 74-run partnership from 187-5.
