Australia vs Zimbabwe live, watch Cricket World Cup 2011 online on espnstar. Australia have won the toss and have scored 10 runs without any loss in two overs.

Australia has a lot to gain from their World Cup campaign starting today. For the most part it’s to defend the most sought after title of world cricket for fourth time in succession. Continuing an unbeaten record of 23 consecutive wins in World Cup also deserves honor. Captain Ricky Ponting is to lead such perfect team in his 40th World Cup match.

With all this bunch of records and hopes, Australia will meet Zimbabwe at Motera in Ahmadabad. Return of Ponting to the commanding position of the team has already injected the thrill for title hunt. Despite of the humiliating Ashes loss, Kangaroos keep their head high in World Cup for 12 years winning 29 matches.

The injured Tasmanian would be the one and all of the team tracing their fourth title triumph. Ponting has already set his eyes on a rare hat-trick record of leading his team to championship after 2003 and 2007. With a dazzling half century in their warm-up match against India, Ponting had shown his fitness to face the challenges.

However, the team which lacks top guns like Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne faces a big blow in the form of injury to Michael Hussey and off-spinner Nathan Hauritz. No need to worry when Shane Watson and Brett Lee can lead the team from the front as they did in recent 6-1 win over England.  Michael Clarke and Cameron White who shared captaincy in the absence of Ponting can also do a lot for the defending champions.

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, will face a team to which they have lost 25 out of 27 matches. The team lacks any successor to Duncan Fletcher who tied Australia for an equalizer in the 1983 World Cup match at Trent Bridge.
