Organisers scrap online ticket sale for World Cup final

Mumbai, Feb 22 (PTI) The organisers today scrapped theonline ticket booking system for the World Cup final hereafter the website crashed within hours of business yesterdayand the tickets will now be sold through online lottery.

None of the 1,000 tickets available online could be soldyesterday after the system at www.kyazoonga.com website wentdown soon after opening for business at 1pm IST due to heavytraffic.

Millions of fans tried to buy tickets for the April 2final in Mumbai''s newly-renovated Wankhede Stadium.

Tournament director Ratnakar Shetty said the organisingcommittee will now sell the 1,000 tickets allocated for theonline sale through a lottery.

"We will announce a date and time when people can applyonline for the tickets and later after a draw is held thosewinning their bids will be asked to buy the same online," saidShetty, who is also Maharashtra Cricket Association,treasurer.

"We will also make sure that one person cannot buy morethan two tickets," he said.

Just 4,500 tickets are on sale for public for the April 2final, and out of them 1,000 were to be sold online.

The MCA is obligated to offer the International CricketCouncil 8,500 tickets and the remaining to be distributedthrough its clubs and other cricket authorities.
