The Australians are seen as strong favourite to win the entire tournament so there will be many eyes focus on seeing what kind of start they will open up with in Ahmedabad.

“You can’t change what other people say about us whether they say that we are good enough to win the tournament or whatever,” said Australia captain RT Ponting.

In the meantime, Zimbabwe, which is a team build up of “immigrants, expats and five home-grown former Under-19 stars” – will be hoping to transform its good run in the warm-up to the tournament.

Recently they gave England a scare before the falling short of their target during an eyeing opening chase, which saw Rizwan Cheema hitting an aggressive 93 runs from 71 balls with a flourish of fours and sixes.

The same is unlikely to happen against Sangakkara’s side which have – in the past – take care of business against the lower sides, especially after the result from these two team’s last meeting.

The last time they met at the World Cup, Canada were easily beaten by nine wickets after being bowled out for a meager 36 runs which was the quickest in World Cup history.

And while Sri Lanka have a host of experienced – including Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Muttiah Muralitharan – in its team, Canada will be depending on its youngster, such as Hiral Patel and Nitish Kumar to come good for the team.
